Peter Withe wins final Celeb Am

Aston Villa European Cup-winning striker Peter Withe has won the final day’s Celeb Am title at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship. Withe finished on +2 and pipped Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan- who also finished on +2- managing four birdies in his round and winning on countback.

Withe and Jordan headed up a star-studded field for the day that included William Roache MBE, Gordon Strachan OBE, tournament host Tony Jacklin CBE, Max Rushden, Neil Back MBE, Derek Redmond, Dominic Holland, Tommy Fleetwood, Ron Atkinson, Dean Saunders, Costantino Rocca, Steve Staunton, Len Goodman, Mark Foster, Lee Hendrie and Alan McInally.

In the team competition, Team Jacklin walked away with the title with an impressive round of -14 in which they scored no fewer than 86 points. They were followed closely behind by Purpose Media (UK) on -10, Bidvest Food Service on -9, and Sky TV and Farol Fore who were both on -4.

All the winners at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship, organised by Champions (UK) plc, will celebrate their achievements at a special Gala Ball this evening that will be hosted by Dominic Holland with a special appearance by Championship host Tony Jacklin. Entertainment for the evening will be provided by the sixties music tribute band The Overtures. There will also be a spectacular charity auction which will include the chance to have a two night stay at the Yas Island Rotana Hotel, Abu Dhabi, with two rounds of golf at the stunning Yas Links golf course included. All funds raised on the evening will go to Championship charity Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.

Yesterday saw European Senior Tour winner Mark Mouland win the 2016 Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship. The first double winner of the tournament (he also won in 2008) took the title with a score of -11, six ahead of Englishman Richard O'Hanlon, and received a cheque for €50,000.

All the tournament’s results and statistics can be found on www.britishpar3.com and on Twitter with @BritishPar3. Next year’s Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship will be held from 8-11 August 2017.
