The first group of professional players are now out on the Cromwell Course as the Pro-Am at this year’s Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship gets underway.
Players were up bright and early to begin their quest for the €50,000 first prize with the first pair teeing off at 7:00am. Luke Turbutt got the event underway and with the likes of five-time Staysure Tour winner Tim Thelen, European Tour winner Carl Sunseon, Scottish star Scott Drummond and last year’s runner-up Andrew Marshall all following suit.
European Tour player Matthew Cort is also in action and is partnered up with Junior Qualifier winner Josh Mulcahy.
Later today the likes of 1991 Masters’ winner Ian Woosnam OBE, 1999 Open winner Paul Lawrie OBE, 2005 U.S. Open Champion Michael Campbell, European Tour star Aaron Rai, Italian legend Costantino Rocca and the event’s first ever disabled professional Mike Browne will all be taking to the course for their opening round.
A number of celebrities will be joining in the fun in the form of amateurs. These include Manchester United legendary goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel MBE, former Strictly Come Dancing judge Len Goodman, BBC Sport and news presenter Dan Walker, ex-Strictly Come Dancing professional James Jordan and comedy legends Jasper Carrott OBE and Bobby Davro.
