Championship Favourite Paul Lawrie Named Ryder Cup Vice-Captain

It was with great delight that we saw on Friday 27th May that Europe’s 2016 Ryder Cup Captain Darren Clarke has named Scotland’s Paul Lawrie MBE among his first three Vice-captains for the contest against the United States at Hazeltine National Golf Club this September.

Paul has been a great friend to the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship, gracing the Cromwell Course with his presence for the last two years and in the process adding yet more real star quality to our event.

Having taken part in the Ryder Cup as a player at Brookline in 1999 and played a major part in the Miracle of Medinah in 2012, and having won the 1999 Open Championship, Paul is no stranger to the highest level and highest pressure golf.

We have every confidence that, alongside fellow Vice-captains Denmark’s Thomas Bjørn and Ireland’s Padraig Harrington, his input will prove invaluable as Clarke’s European team look to win their fourth consecutive Ryder Cup.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish Paul Lawrie and the entire European team the very best of luck in September.
