Dame Laura Davies hits LPGA form once again

2017 Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship star Dame Laura Davies turned back the clock to her glory days, finishing tied second in the Bank of Hope Founders Cup on the LPGA Tour, recording her best finish since 2007.

The event, in Phoenix, Arizona, was Davies’ second this year on the LPGA Tour and the veteran English star made a remarkable fourteen under to finish in the top three. It was on the third day in Arizona, where Davies showed why she’s one of the game's greats, by firing an eight-under-par 63 around the Wildfire course with seven birdies and one eagle leaving her in contention on the final day.

But it was Japan’s Inbee Park who pipped Davies to the $225,000.00 winner’s cheque after recording day three and day four scores of 63, and 67, preventing Davies from becoming the oldest champion in LGPA Tour history.

After her performance, Davies told the BBC "Now people might stop asking me when I'm going to retire – that's the best thing about it.

"I can just go and play and see if I can get a few more top 10 finishes this year, because the more I get up there, I might have a chance of winning again."
