Today sees the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship crown its 2019 champion and play started bright and early with the first groupings already out on the Cromwell course.
As the sun shone over Nailcote Hall Ladies European Tour star Inci Mehmet got play underway teeing off at 7:00am.
Reigning champion Steven Tiley is the one to beat once again topping the leader board overnight with a score of -5. Shortly behind him is Staysure Tour player Gary Wolstenholme MBE on -3 followed by PGA professional Jak Hamblett on -2.
Five players are then tied in fourth in the form of: Jarmo Sandelin, Lejan Lewthwaite, Brendan McGovern, Tim Thelen and Paul Lawrie OBE.
In the Norma C Herd Silver Salver, which is awarded to best amateur, there is a three-way tie at the top going into today’s final day. Matt James, Neal Gooding and Junior Qualifier winner Josh Mulcahy are all on +1.
There is also a team aspect of the tournament which is also being fiercely contested. Sean Lawrie and Johnston Mackie, Brendan McGovern and his amateur, ex-England cricket star James Taylor, Steven Tiley and former darts world champion Keith Deller and Steve Lewton and amateur Clive Whiting are tied on -7.
