Nigel Mansell and Roy Walker share the spoils in first Celeb Am

Racing legend  Nigel Mansell and TV presenter Roy Walker finished joint first in the opening Celeb-Am at The Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship organised by Champions (UK) plc while the team prize has been taken by Farmfoods 1. Both finished with a score of +3 and won on countback. The celeb-packed day included appearances from cricketing star Jonny Bairstow, England goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton, Strictly Come Dancing favourite Len Goodman and darts star Eric Bristow.  

In the team event the Farmfoods 1 team – made up of Mike Hill, Ricky Sturrock, David Nelson and Peter Baker – claimed their trophy on countback after finishing with a score of -12, the same as Burtons Biscuits- David Grant, James Quemby, Mark Hambleton and Alan McInally. Third place was taken by Berkmann Wine Cellars- Adrian Claridge, David George Snr, David George Jnr and Roy Walker with a score of -9.

At a special event at Nailcote Hall the winners will be announced by tournament starter Peter Coles and presented with their prizes by the hall’s owner Rick Cressman and tournament host Tony Jacklin CBE. Presentations will be followed by a lavish three-course meal and a glitzy ball, with entertainment from The Brothers of Soul. There will be an extensive charity auction to raise vital funds for tournament charity

Tomorrow the Pro-Am starts with tee times of 7.00am, 10.30am and 2.00pm. A who’s who of well-known professional golfers will take to the Cromwell course tomorrow including Tony Jacklin, Ian Woosnam, Costantino Rocca, Edoardo Molinari, Tommy Fleetwood, Lee Slattery, Paul Broadhurst and Michael Campbell. Among the celebrities teeing off will be Dean Saunders, Nigel Mansell, Dominic Holland, James Jordan, Bobby Davro, Peter Shilton, Derek Redmond and Peter Withe.
