Paul Broadhurst Wins Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex

The Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship is delighted to report that Championship regular Broadhurst has won the prestigious Senior Open Championship, beating the favourite Miguel Ángel Jiménez to take the title.

Paul will now be looking to build on his success when he tees off in the Pro Am at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship, running from 25-29 July at Nailcote Hall.

Paul stunned the crowds at Carnoustie when he pipped Jiménez to the title with a faultless 68 round while the Spaniard finished by making a double bogey at the last. The win was all the more incredible because Paul began the day four shots behind!

He and his caddy – also his son – could not contain their happiness over the win, which had a prize of £220,000 as well as the priceless card that gives Paul exemption on the Champions Tour until the end of 2017.

Following his Open win, Paul is now No.1 on the European Senior Tour Order of Merit where he has earned himself a start next year as well as a place in the US Senior Open running from 8-14 August.

As he prepared for the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship, Paul told Champions: “I’m not really aware how big this is yet. It’s beyond my wildest dreams. This sort of thing doesn’t happen to players like me normally. I feel very privileged.”
