Pro-Am hots up at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship

This year’s Pro-Am at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship has begun to hot up with many of the event’s star players now out on the Cromwell Course.

In what is shaping up to be a tightly contested final day, Challenge Tour and former European Tour star, Steven Tiley’s score of -3 is still the one to beat, but Italian golfing legend Costantino Rocca came close with his score of -2 putting him in second place. He piled on the pressure scoring multiple birdies in a remarkable round, before bogeying the final hole which would have seen him match Tiley’s score.

The pair are now sharing the top spot ahead of Steven’s 3:30pm tee off time. Other players in contention who will be heading onto the Cromwell Course this afternoon include Australian former European Tour player, Peter Fowler, 2005 U.S. Open champion Michael Campbell, European Tour rookie Aaron Rai and Swedish star Jarmo Sandelin.

David Nelson is still leading the way in the Norma C Herd Silver Salver, which is awarded to the event’s best scoring amateur, shooting +4. Nick Matthews who won Monday’s junior qualifier is in second place with a score of +7.

One of the highlights of the day saw Staysure Tour player Gary Wolstenholme MBE score the event’s first hole in one on the sixth. He bagged himself a one week stay at a Jack Nicklaus designed course in Spain in the process. He has also scored the lowest round of the tournament so far with a score of -6 today.
