The 93rd Champions (UK) plc British Par 3 Championship got underway in style at Nailcote Hall on Tuesday, as a packed field of sporting legends, celebrities, amateurs and creators took to the Cromwell Course for the opening Celeb-Am.
Michael Campbell, winner of the 2025 European Senior Masters, claimed the individual celebrity honours after finishing the day three under par, while Tela Technology, A1R Services and Champions (UK) plc topped the joint team leaderboard with 80 points each to take the first team title of Championship week.
It was a fitting start to four days of action, with two-time Major winner and tournament host Tony Jacklin CBE among a strong line-up of familiar faces. Former cricketer Matthew Hoggard MBE was joined by Olympic athlete Derek Redmond, football names including Alan McInally, Lee Hendrie and Gary McAllister, broadcaster John Inverdale and Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan.
There was also plenty of interest around the Champions Influencer team, featuring golf creators James Robinson and Leo Boniface, who brought their followings to a Celeb-Am field combining sporting pedigree with the growing world of golf content.
Other notable names out on the Cromwell Course included Gary Wolstenholme MBE, Franklyn Stephenson, Dean Ashton, Don Goodman, Calum Giles and Nuno Valente, with competitors once again discovering why Nailcote Hall’s nine-hole par-three layout can provide such a demanding test.
Tuesday’s Celeb-Am marks the opening chapter of the 2026 Championship, with attention now turning to the professionals as the Pro-Am gets underway on Wednesday.
