From helping wake up the nation as the host of Heart FM, to becoming a regular contributor on popular daytime show This Morning, Jenni Falconer has achieved plenty in her broadcasting career so far. However, recently she has found a new love in the form of golf.
Only taking up the sport within the last year, Jenni has completely fallen in love with the game and has begun playing in events up and down the country.
This includes this year’s Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship where she took part in one of the event’s Celeb-Am’s. The incredibly inclusive event, based at Nailcote Hall in Warwickshire, sees both men and women of all ages and ability compete, the perfect place for Jenni to hone her game.
Jenni spoke about her experiences with the game so far, and why it is important for more women to take up golf.
She said: “It’s very difficult for women to become golfers, it seems like quite an intimidating sport, it’s not necessarily easy to get into, or that’s how it appears to the outside world.
“I approached the PGA, and asked for some direction, they set me up and introduced me to some trainers. I started playing golf at the end of February and played in my first tournament eight weeks later. I was pretty rubbish!
“But, it made me realise I love it, there aren’t enough women playing golf and if you can accept the fact you aren’t going to win all the time, and just have fun, enjoy it and improve every time you play, you will have a great time.”
